The Invitations

Questions are constantly asked on this subject.  Keep in mind that invitations reveal a lot about you. So be careful about what you send out to your intended guests.

Make sure your invitation accurately represents you and the wedding you plan. If possible, use the same kind of stationery (paper weight, style and color) for everything and know the number of pieces you need before placing an order. Invitations are usually ordered in increments of 25.

Don't skimp!  Order an additional 25 if you feel you might need them. It's less expensive to include the extra invitations in the initial order than if you wait and are forced to order more at a later date. If you have a few extra invitations, you can always cherish them as keepsakes.

Do you have to mention parents by name on the invitations?  No! Here's an example: ''Together with their parents, Jennifer Ann Baldwin and Lawrence James Miller request the honour of your presence at their marriage on the fifth of June..." This helps avoid dilemmas faced by couples with step-parents, by couples who have a deceased parent, and by those whose parents aren't involved in the planning of the wedding.

Addressing Invitations ...
Since your wedding invitations are the first thing many of your guests will see, they set the tone for the entire event. These etiquette guidelines give examples of how to properly address invitations.

Assembling and Mailing Invitations ...
Once you have addressed your invitations, they must be carefully packaged in advance of your wedding day, in order to create the best presentation.
